Sacrifice and Suffering

I was blown away from Acts 5:41! "So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name." Wow! What an awesome verse; these men were actually grateful to be able to suffer for God.

This reminded me of the young girl at Columbine High School who was hiding under a library table. One of the gunmen asked her if she was a Christian, and she replied immediately with "Yes". He shot her and killed her. Christians are tested everyday all around the world, but most of us never face the trials that others have known.

Am I really willing and able to sacrifice and suffer for God? Are any of us truly willing to suffer and sacrifice for God? And, would I be grateful for the suffering? I just pray that God will continue to work in my heart and life so that I am prepared and worthy to suffer for Him.
