To the Jew became I as a Jew.... This is not a reality physically but it can be a state of heart, most especially in ones attitude, it is so easy to have a them and us mentality and to let that give room for a sense of superiorority however subtle that sense might be.
Jesus was never one to put himself above anybody, He became the servant of all.
