Do I make decisions based on the right circumstances?

This verse has always intrigued me. God deliberately led the children of Israel out of the way by hundreds of miles so they might not face war. God obviously knew something about the Israelites - conflict and trouble would have knocked them out for the count.

And I often wonder.

Am I from the same mold?

Do I run from battles? Does God have to lead me out of the way so I won't face circumstances that will cause me to lose faith? Am I too weak?

I think these are the wrong questions.

Here's why God led them the round-about way. Because HE KNOWS WHAT WE CAN HANDLE.

And because He loves us - He leads us - and sometimes He leads us in a long-way so we can make it the whole way.
