3 things to excell in...in the christian life
7 But just as you excel in everything–in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us–see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
This morning this verse jumps out to me. 3 thiings that should be part of my christian life and in which I should excell : Faith, Speech & Knowledge.
Faith : To trust God at all times especially in difficult circumstances. To remember that He is in Control. Nothing happens without Him.
Speech : Specific: to verbalize the gospel in a way that people may know our Saviour. The greatest enemy of speech is my own fear. Fear of what people may think of me. Speech also means the general way of speaking with people. To be careful about my tone of voice. Not to speak with anger, but with joy and peace.
Knowledge : Knowledge is the cornerstone of faith & speech. Without the correct knowledge my faith and speech will go in the wrong direction. Knowledge based on scripture and the Holy Spirit. Knowledge to make the right decisions.
Father God, I pray for these 3 things that should be part of my christian life. Fill me with faith, speech and knowledge Lord according to you will. Help me to excell in these. To think of these 3 things often, O Lord. All Honor and Glory to You, Creator of Heaven and Earth.
