Sex and Responsibility
I really wish this rule applied today. If guys knew that they would have to pay money and marry the woman they had sex with then I'm pretty sure premarital sex would not be so rampant.
I expecially like that the power is in the hands of the father. First, he's the one who sets the amount of the dowry, and second even if the guy wants to marry a girl and is willing to pay the father can refuse. After all I'm sure a guy who goes around enticing virgins is probably not good marriage material. But on top of all that he will still have to pay the father the set amount for virgins.
