Testing God
"Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, `You must not test the LORD your God'""
How easy is it for us, to require and request God to do stuff for us. Or the God MAKE yourself present here. Do this for me, and I'll believe in you and give you my life.
Do you know how much that type of prayer drives me crazy? Number one, God is present to begin with. We just need to open our eyes. Maybe let's pray for people to experience God's presence that is around us. Secondly, the conditional faith. The if and but and or. God IS. We need to let faith work its share. The testing of God is futile. Questions, are different then testing something in my mind. There's a difference from exploring and searching for answers then demanding God to answer in your time line.
I've read this passage a hundred times by now. It still sticks out at me every time none the less. How often we feel that God owes us one. Or he needs to show up for OUR sake to believe in him. It's not a conditional thing like that.
I pray that I'll learn through all this to trust you more God. That I'll be able to let go of my human struggle to always require you to do something for me.
