Six Days

As I read through Exodus this verse stuck out to me. Although Moses most likely also wrote Genesis here he records that God proclaims to have created in six days, and it is God who proclaims that as a sign of the covenant the Israelites would keep the seventh day holy, Sabbath.

In the old vs. new earth debate this seems to lend more evidence toward the new earth debate. However, I am still struck that the first three days cannot be literal days because no sun or moon had been created and thus it would be impossible to mark time from a human perspective. Then again humans had not been created yet either, and I'm pretty sure God knew the dynamics of the earth's rotation and eventual path around the sun and thus he foreknew what a day was.
