Leadership Challenge

Out of nowhere comes Jethro, Moses' father in law, to advise Moses on building a leadership base. It is not that Moses couldn't handle the problems individually--it is that he couldn't handle all the problems holistically. There was just too much ground to cover for one leader to deal with each individual problem of more than 4 million people.

God puts people around leaders who can help handle the burden. To some, He gives them the ability to lead ten, others twenty, others fifty, and still others a thousand. The church should be the same way--there shouldn't be a "pastor is paid to do this" mentality. There are people that God has strategically placed to handle certain problems, perhaps problems that aren't as complex.

What do I need to do about this? I need to recognize that as a leader, God has put certain people around me that can handle certain problems. If there is no one around to handle certain problems or perform certain roles, than it is God's desire that they not exist yet. Programs, ministries, ideas, etc. etc. -- need someone to take the bull by the horns and lead them!
