Worship

Jesus replied, "Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But the time is coming—indeed it's here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth."

This passage takes place when Jesus is speaking at the well with the Samaritan woman. (First of all, let's not forget how much of a no-no this is for Jews!!) They get down to talking about WHERE they worship. Obviously this was a pretty big deal (actually it still is, we just don't admit it) The reality, which Jesus points out is it doesn't matter where. For the time will come when TRUE worshipers will worship the LORD in spirit and in truth.

This has so much depth really too it. I'd love to dive into the deep significance of the word spirit and in truth. It seems as if Jesus is making reference to an entirely new way of doing worship. Something counter what they know or have been told.
