Humility and Kindness

I love these words by Paul:

Eph 3:8 I am the least important of all God’s people. But God was kind and chose me to tell the Gentiles that because of Christ there are blessings that cannot be measured.

Even though Paul was very bold and outspoken he did so with a genuine humility and lived out the words that both Peter and James quote:

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. (1 Peter 5:5-6)

Proverbs says it this way:

He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble. (Proverbs 3:34)

Because of Paul's humility he was given a great responsibility - tell the gentiles about Jesus. Paul saw this as God's favor on his life and an act of kindness. I think Paul understood he deserved death. His sins separated him from God. Rather that get what he deserved however, he received mercy and forgiveness and a new life of meaning and purpose devoted to the simple task of telling others how good God really is.
