He open the way
What I find so exciting about these passages is the way that God worked both in Peter's life and in the life of Cornelius to prepare each of them for the work about to be done. While Peter's heart was being opened to the very notion of sharing the gospel with a gentile, Cornelius heart was being prepared to receive Peter's message.
I remember a passage of scripture John 3:34 that reads
"For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit" I believe that when we are prompted to witness for Christ, God send us where He wants us to go, he gives us the words to say and empowers us with His Holy Spirit. I also believe that by prayer, God does prepare the one to whom the message is being sent.
