Scripture
Peter, with John at his side, looked him straight in the eye...Acts 3:4

Observation
Who is this guy? This guy Peter. He seems pretty extraordinary to just a few moments later to have such a strong faith and heal a crippled man.

This Peter is none other than the bonehead who, when Jesus needed a friend the most, Peter denied Jesus three times.

Application
In John 18:25-27 we read that Peter blew it with Jesus, acted like he never existed. The truth is I deny Jesus daily and act as though he doesn't exist almost every day!

That's right. Though I want to say "Yes" enthusiastically with Jesus every day I don't and it often leaves me confused saying "How could you mess up like that Bud?"

But it's true - God uses boneheads like you adn me to do amazing things.

God uses our remorse, God sees our true heart, God works with us through the Holy Spirit to chip away at our attitudes and actions. He does this with second chances.

And then he gives us another opportunity, like he did here with Peter where Peter doesn't deny the power and presence of Jesus, rather, Peter digs deep down into a God inspired faith and says "Look here!"

Prayer
Father, today I will be on guard to deny your presence, help me become more aware of you in, with and for me so I might be in, with and for You!
