Thorough Knowledge Yet Room To Grow

The description of Apollos is attractive to anyone who wished to see the good news of Jesus Christ advanced. He was a fervent speaker, thorough in his knowledge of the word of God, and he spoke accurately about Jesus. What more could you want? Yet there was more to learn. There is always more to learn about someone with whom you have a relationship. To be humble enough to learn it is the trick. Apparently Apollos is also a humble man, willing to learn from a couple of tent makers.

As a student of the Bible, when I listen, I can learn much from those who have a variety of backgrounds. I get some of my best insights by listening to people who pursue our Lord Jesus, but who are not vocational ministers.

This is a wonderful message to preachers, teachers, spiritual leaders, anyone. No matter the richness of your abilities and the knowledge of scriptures, always be humble enough to learn. And, don’t judge a book by its cover.

Prayer: Lord, may I never reach the point that I come to believe that I know it all and fail to continue to learn and grow in your mysteries.
