Unfinished? Ha! Not a Chance!

"Shall I open the womb and not deliver? says the LORD;
shall I, the one who delivers, shut the womb? says your God."

During a hard and hopeless time, this text came into my life. Though often I could not feel or believe its revelation of God's character, I chose to read it often, have it at least be a piece of my tough days, something other than anxiety to tumble in my mind like a pebble downstream.

In tasteful bafflement, God proclaims this vivid metaphor to Israel. "You were thinking I would stop my work with you halfway? Not a chance! I long to hear your cries and screams into new life, into a life full of divine virtues, and so I am ever ready for that beeping page, to rush into the delivery room and be the first whose touch you feel in yet another new set of righteousness's skins."
