The Humble will be Honored
As Pastor James says, one of the sayings he hates the most in all the world is "fake it until you make it." That idea is that one's "image" and propping ones-self up to look better than you are and better than others around you is a profoundly carnal one. And God is not fooled. What He wants is truth in our inner being.
I do not want to be fake. I want to be honest about who I am and what my weaknesses and shortcomings are. As soon as I think I have it all together or have "arrived", then I am due for a big fall. I want to keep it real and continue to rely on God for mercy.
God, we both know that I have a long way to go. Search me and try me. Know my inner-most thoughts and motives, and lead me in the way that will bring the most glory and honor to You. Keep me from becoming proud.
