At one time many believed that the earth was flat instead of spherical. Though Aristotle offered evidence of the world being spherical as early as 330BC. It has been confirmed again and again that the world is indeed spherical. Those who believed in a flat earth had to acknowledge that they had it all wrong.
1 Corinthians 7 presents a challenge for most of us who have been influenced by the world in our BC (before Christ) days. We've believed that it is not only good but appropriate for men and women to have sexual relations with one another without being married. We've believed that married people didn't belong to one another, so they could choose not to pursue intimacy as a couple. We've believed that the health of our marriages have nothing to do with our ability to resist Satan. We've believed that there is singleness is a curse, as a result, it is something wrong with people who are a certain age and still single. We've believed that we can leave or divorce our unbelieving spouse because they don't get on board supporting our new life in Jesus. We've believed that marriage doesn't provide a balancing challenge in committing ourselves to the Lord's affairs. 1 Corinthians 7 reminds us that we've had it all wrong. God's plan and purpose is totally different from what we've learned and believed.
1 Corinthians 7 reminds us, "we've had it all wrong".
