When I feel like I am slipping

Ever thought you foot was slipping? You know that feeling when you are going downstairs with something in your arms and you are certain you have taken your last step down, only to find that there is one more step to take. Or maybe you have experienced walking on the sidewalk or driveway in the winter when your foot finds that patch of ice. In an instance your confident steps are no more. What a terrible feeling. You feel like the floor has been removed from underneath you and all stability and coordination is gone.

Life can be like that at times. At least my life can. I think everything is going along fine and then all of a sudden it all changes. I lose my footing and begin to slip. The causes of this slipping can come from many places. It can come from within my own brokenness and sinfulness. It can come from an outside force that causes me to slip. It can be another human being that leads me down a slippery slope.

No matter what the cause, there is one constant solution. God's love continually holds me up. I find forgiveness, peace and hope in that love. That love prevents my fall and provides me the ability to stand firm. We underestimate the power of God's unfailing love. It doesn't waiver or change, like our steps. It is the secure anchor in the storm and the firm foundation when the earth quakes. God is forever near us; loving us; supporting us, redeeming us; holding us up.

May we feel the support of His unfailing love today and forever.

Peace!

Tom
