I Love You - Do You Love Me
The question really boils down to this, "Do you love me?" If God should answer them - and He does - will they be obedient?
If they are obedient, is it because;
1. they are happy to have received the food - gratitude
2. they remember how harsh things were in captivity, or they remember stories of God's punishment - remembrance
3. they remember the past, don't know the future and they are terrified - fear
4. they want Him to keep supplying - self serving motives
5. they love Him and desire to keep His commands - LOVE
I think it is possible to love Him and maybe respond with one or two of the above answers as well - the Bible reminds us to remember God and what He has done, gratitude certainly isn't a bad thing, but those things alone aren't the reason why we should be obedient.
Obedience should be a response of love, not simply fear or self serving motives.
