That's How I Want To Live Life

When we are living the vision God has for us, our lives will be enriched as we are fulfilling our destiny of being what God has called us to be and doing what God has called us to do. But more importantly (and perhaps at the very heart of our fulfillment), we will be fitting into something so much bigger than ourselves. Just like Nehemiah, we will be fitting into God's eternal plans for the ages and touching lives for generations to come. Let me give you an example. Edward Kimball was the owner of a shoe store in Boston. He had a vision and burden to share his faith with his employees, particularly a young teenager by the name of D.L. Moody. Moody came to Christ and became a worldwide evangelist. During his ministry he led Wilbur Chapman to the Lord. Chapman had a powerful influence throughout the Chicago area. It was through the influence of his ministry that the famous baseball player Billy Sunday was led to Christ. Billy Sunday had the opportunity of leading Mordecai Hamm to the Lord. Hamm became a strong regional evangelist south of the Mason-Dixon line. During one series of engagements in Charlotte a young man in the choir heard the Gospel and responded. His name was Billy Graham. The rest is history! Now think of all the souls that have been touched for the Gospel and "wall building" that has taken place for Jesus Christ over the last 150 years because of the obedience of one man, Edward Kimball. Like Nehemiah, he was an unheralded layperson whom God directed into a purpose that would transcend his life and the life of many others for generations to come. Now that's how I want to live life!
