It's Time To Rebuild Your Broken Walls
Where do you start when you need to rebuild some walls in your life that have been broken down - whether it's a wall around Jerusalem, your marriage, your family, your home, your career or your reputation? Where do you start amidst the intimidating voices telling you "don't you dare think of rebuilding this wall in your life?" No wonder Nehemiah starts with God (11 prayers in 13 chapters!). Only God can and will make the difference between walls broken and walls rebuilt in our lives. As Neh 1:9 reminds us, God is a covenant keeping God. He will not forsake His promises to fit your failures. He will not water down His promises to fit your broken walls! He is the one who can and will turn evil for good (Rom 8:28) and He is the one who can and will restore the years the locust have taken away (Joel 2:25)! Here is what is exciting, God will not only restore your walls, He alone can do it in record time! Gordon MacDonald shares openly about the brokenness of his life caused by an affair in his book, Rebuilding Your Broken World. A period of time after his confession, he shared how he was sitting in a church feeling so unworthy and worthless - the broken walls of a life that could have been. Then God met him in a special way and he later wrote, "it was a day I shall never forget. No one in the sanctuary knew how high they had lifted one troubled man far above his broken-world anguish." God was there with him and that made all the difference between brokenness and rebuilding. In your brokenness, God is there, so get busy. He is the one saying to you, "I'm here! My promises are still for you! It's time to rebuild your broken walls!"
