Unlikely Circumstances Mean Nothing To God
I imagine that when Nehemiah received his vision from God his initial reaction was a "are you sure about this God?" After all, Nehemiah seemed to be the most unlikely of candidates. He wasn't an architect, a bricklayer, a gate builder. He was a cupbearer for heaven's sake! However, Nehemiah understood that God doesn't give a vision to someone for nothing. Perhaps you have a vision from God but quite frankly, you are thinking, "I am the most unlikely candidate!" That's good - let me tell you why. When I was a young boy, I went to a speech therapist for five years. The last words she ever said to me were, "Barry, you will never be able to speak in public!" Humanly speaking, she was right, but God had other plans. I was the most unlikely candidate, but God called me to preach. I have just finished my 25th year in the pulpit at the same church. More often than not God uses unlikely circumstances and unlikely people to accomplish the most unlikely of work for the Kingdom of God. Why? So that He gets the glory. So, never give up on a vision from God - and the more unlikely, the better. After all, unlikely circumstances mean nothing to God!
