Where does zeal lead?

Never lacking in zeal keep your fervor for the Lord v. 11 NIV
Don't burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Message

I've wonder why it is that most leaders never become self sustaining in the spiritual journey. Why do some lose their dependence on structures, people, organizations and begin to grow themselves. Why have I perserved these 15 years never needing a Sunday or Mid week but always pursuing a spiritual journey of my own.

Never lacking in zeal! Where are the visionaries who want to take the gospel and form biblically functioning communities (BFC) in neighborhoods, workplace, and in social settings. Where are the gospel planters who want to start a BFC at Starbucks, Cerner, Ford, in apartments, schools.

Father, I feel my zeal for the church waning. I know that your work at Shoal Creek cannot continue in a linear fashion. We will jump the shark if we just keep getting bigger and bigger. Is it multi-site, full on chuch plant, missional communities? What is face of the future? For the life of me I can't see getting so big that we have to buy land build, etc. Ugh! Surely there is a form that fits the growth that would allow us to have the same zeal and not burn out and continue to be effective for the kingdom.

Father, I pray that you would move to the forefront those whose zeal has reached the self sustaining phase so that we might identify, equip and release them to do kingdom building. Father I pray that you would infect us with an apostolic spirit. Crazy ideas, wild imaginations, men and women willing to take irrational risks for Jesus' sake.
