Broken Word
When Moses broke the stone tablets with the law of God on them, this was a huge mistake. The very thing that they needed he threw down and broke in rage. The same man who was just pleading for their lives discarded the law of God, designed to help them live holy lives. Certainly the golden calf needed to be destroyed, but in its place attention needed to placed on God, guided with the direction from God, the commandments.
Fresh word from God discarded when it was needed most. Gee, I wonder if I have ever done that, say after a Sunday morning service. :)
