The Great Illusion
In America we have so much. We go to such great lengths to keep up this illusion that the rest of the worlds needs will be met somehow by someone, but the sad fact is that they are not being met. So many times I have talked with people who say, but what about the people here who are starving, and I almost want to laugh, because we have so many programs and the like to make sure that they don't go naked or die from starvation. However, our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world stave and go naked.
I just think the contrast is very disheartening that while we sit in our warm comfy houses with our bellies full, many tonight will go to bed hungry, sleeping in the dirt.
What will we do? Will we just talk about the solution as it talks about in verse 18 or will we be the hands and feet of Jesus? Please pray. Pray for me as my heart is heavy with this burden, but most importantly pray for these who are without, and pray that God would show us how to love with our lives and not just our conversations.
