So David is so much in trouble here that he feels he's been abandoned by God. He's troubled as he states certain threats he's having at his particular time of his life. But the passage ends with confidence, as he knows that God would provide deliverance. History-wise, God has been great to him, and he's already praising God as he trusts on Jehovah.
Whatever man might plot bad to him, and the lion attacking him, Jehovah will come to his rescue. And deep down, he knows that, as he is ready to be in praise.
