Noah's sacrifice

Its interesting to me that Noah sacrificed some of the animals after the flood. My initial thought was, "No! Don't kill one of the only mammals left alive!" But after you think of all the faith Noah had to have in order to get through the flood, sacrificing a few animals must not have required much faith.
