Day 1
**DISCLAIMER** I am just curious and picking brains. I'm following Prof. Horner's 8 Month (250 Days) Bible Reading System on YouVersion.com. **
NIV:
11 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong–12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.
How many people can say that they are encouraged to do something? We've experienced that all the time, but how many people can say that they are encouraged to be stronger believers and actually become stronger believers because someone else's strong faith in God struck you hard and made you smile?
NIV:
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Just thinking at the being 'ashamed' part. Paul knows the gospel and isn't afraid to talk about it. Why do most of us run when the subject of God comes up? Why do we change the subject? Why do we just sit there and 'listen' (when you know you are only 'listening' because you have NOTHING biblical to say)?
I know for now I am unable to really 'preach' the gospel because I don't know it as well as I want to. I'm not going to lie. I can't come up to you and be opinionated about the bible when I don't know my stories.
However reciting verses to claim you know your bible isn't at all showing how much you know. Anyone can recite a few words. I don't care that you know your verses by heart. What I want to know is how you apply those same verses to your lifestyle.
So since you are unable to 'live like Jesus' and all you can do is 'preach like Jesus' then at that point you SHOULD be ashamed.
NIV:
20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
I get it, but how is something invisible and clear at the same time? LOL
You hear everyone? "SO THAT MEN ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE"
NIV:
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
The Message:
26 Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn’t know how to be human either—women didn’t know how to be women, men didn’t know how to be men.27 Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men—all lust, no love. And then they paid for it, oh, how they paid for it—emptied of God and love, godless and loveless wretches.
Well what happened is that the people decided to praise figures rather then the Creator, God. So I believe that God then literally let them go. And because he wasn't protecting them everything natural and 'normal' became unnatural and chaotic . Women were having sex with women and men were having sex with men. So does that mean that God can 'let you be' and release you from his protection and all hell breaks lose with your life? I mean, I don't think you'll become gay or lesbian, but a whole bunch of negative happenings are just calling your name and you have no way or guarding yourself from temptation.
God will single handedly let us fall into the fiery pits of damnation and that's scary! Embrace him yall!! Embrace him and don't let go because hitting the bottom hurts!
The Message:
32 And it’s not as if they don’t know better. They know perfectly well they’re spitting in God’s face. And they don’t care—worse, they hand out prizes to those who do the worst things best!
