The God-man arrives

John 1 is full of excitement and movement. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, becomes part of the physical world. Jesus, who is God, becomes a man. Holy, Almighty, Creator God becomes man. He took on flesh. John is preparing the way for this astounding man. Who is like Jesus? Who even begins to compare to God in flesh? Jesus was unlike anything the world had ever seen and is the greatest man the world has ever known. What an exciting scene: God in flesh walking before the eyes of men, talking with them and eating with them. Oh how I wish I could have been there. How incredible! Jesus, the God-man has come to earth. Why did He come? I bet that Cephas (Peter), Andrew, Nathanael and the other disciples had no idea how tragically beautiful the life Jesus lived was going to be? What a breath-taking thought: God in flesh. Thank you for coming Jesus. Thank you for bearing the physical body and humbling yourself. I stand amazed that you truly did come to earth. It speaks volumes about Your love for me.
