Seeking the pleasure of the people
Saul confessed his sin, but then still showed that he was living for the praise and attention of the people. "I know God has rejected me, but will *you* still come back and honor me in front of people?"
It's like the whole bit about are you sorry you did this evil, or are you sorry that you got caught? And is your apology just an attempt to get attention which was the root of the evil you did in the first place?
Man I've been there before. Let us cast down our reputations and what we think other people think about our actions and seek God. That's exactly how David lived, which is why he was up next to be king.
