Change of Perspective
Jennifer Aniston. "Love Happens". Scene where man runs in the street and asks "What do you see?". then takes them up to the top of a roof, looks down at the same street and asks again, "What do you see?" Everything looks and feels different from the roof. It's the same street, but the perspective was different.
Who are the twelve spies?
- One of the leaders from each tribe. Warriors. Intellectuals. Leaders. These are the best of the best of the best. The best in each tribe.
What conclusion did Joshua and Caleb draw?
- It's ours. Let's go and get it. Lived by FAITH
How about the other ten?
- The saw thru a worldly perspective. They were afraid. Lived by SIGHT
How did they come to such different conclusions?
- Living by faith and not by sight.
- Lost the vision
- Joshua had a close relationship to Moses. He was mentored by Moses.
- It's up to God - God can do it (Numbers 14:8). It's up to us - We can't do it (Numbers 13:28)
GOD: This is classic God. He asks them to do something that doesn't make sense. He takes them to a land where the inhabitants are bigger, stronger and larger in number. And then He is going to ask them, "TRUST Me". If the adventure/goal/objective isn't big, scary and impossible to accomplish by yourself then its probably not of God. God is into setups. He is going to set us up so that we must trust him.
LIFE: Is life hard? It's supposed to be. God needs it to be so that you'll come close, speak to him because he wants to guide you, comfort you and rescue you.
ME: Am I living by faith? Or am I living by sight?
