Foggy Morning

I was riding my bike early in the morning the other day, it was cold and dark but it’s that time of year to hit the road at 5:30 am. I rode thru the neighborhood and made it to the park to do a few repeats of our little hill. When I got to the park I noticed that a light fog had settled and was blurring out the street lights. I’ve ridden this road a thousand times over the years so I swooped thru the park to the climb and started my repeats. As I was going up and down, over and over, I started thinking about the carbon fiber material of my bike and how amazing the material is, then I thought that an engineer at one point had the thought to use it. I was thinking about how intelligent that engineer was to build a bike that took into account vertical compliance. Vertical compliance in a bicycle allows the rear wheel to maintain contact with the road at a uniform pressure, to track effectively when carving a turn, and softens the shock to your body caused by impacts of all sizes. As you can tell, my mind wanders on morning rides.
As I was thinking about all these things, this verse came to mind. We don’t always see things clearly. Sometimes the road is foggy and we have to rely on our faith, hope and experience to get us to where we need to go. We have faith that God has shown us the right way to go thru the example of Jesus. We have hope that soon the sun will rise and we will be able to see our way home clearly. We know that if we stay in constant contact with the road we will be able to better transfer the grace given to us to those around us. The great engineer in heaven has chosen the right materials and placed them inside of each of us so that we will have the best vertical compliance for the task at hand. Grace and peace be upon you and may the Lord shine his light for you to see the road ahead.
