How NOT to Lose My First Love

"You have lost your first love."

This was a loss of the understanding of the life change Christ brought into their lives. It was a loss of the understanding of all God had done for them. A result of this was a loss of their love for each other and then a loss of their love for their community and those who were far from God.

It wasn't their doctrine Christ was saying they had lost. They knew doctrine. But it was doctrine without love ... love & worship of God, love for each other, love for the lost. Their relationship with Christ had become mechanical...saying the right things - but no heart. Quick to condemn the false prophet, but lacking in loving and encouraging the Christian or the lost or the one beaten up by sin.

This is not just an issue then. It is an issue now today. Churches and individual Christians can spout correct doctrine and can spot phonies ... but in the same breath they are critical of the church, critical of each other, and by their actions are doing nothing to bridge the gap between Christ and those far from Him.

How do I NOT lose my first love? How does Meadow NOT lose our first love?

By always going back to the simplicity and awe of who Christ is and what He has done for us. Always remembering where He has brought us from. Reading and re-reading Ephesians 1:1-14. Reading, re-reading, memorizing Romans 5:1 and Romans 8:1. Never ceasing to take intentional steps to engage and befriend the lost. Never ceasing to take intentional steps in making corporate worship and fellowship a huge priority.
