Being Humble.
In Matthew 23 Jesus was very critical of the pharisees. So who were the pharisees? The Pharisees were a prominent sect of Jews. The name pharisees literally means "separatist". They were generally considered enemies of Jesus. Jesus stressed how they were more or less hypocrites and were not humble in any sense. The lesson i gathered from this text is that we should be humble in the way we think and our associations with people. Jesus says, a humble person will be exalted!!!! Do you ever wonder why humble people are generally looked on so favorably?? Its because being humble is very important and Jesus was a great example of humility. The other lesson i gathered was that we should in no way be hypocrites of anyone. A hypocrite is someone that talks down to you for doing something, but that person is usually doing the same things. Our world is full of them, and Jesus certainly is against this way of living your life.. So today i challenge you to ensure that you are portraying yourself as non-judgemental, non-hypocritical, and a very HUMBLE person. These are life skills that we must work on every single day.
