We Like A Noisy God

If you've ever gone through times where God seemed distant and silent, you know what I mean. For the believer, who has given up control of their life to God, having no instruction from God is a very frightening experience! The closer dependence you have with Him, the scarier this becomes.

My most fearful thought is to take off in a direction that God has not sent me. Too much is riding on decisions like that. That's why hearing God's voice is so important. So - in times when I haven't heard anything, I have always made it a habit of examining myself, then sitting and waiting. It's better to be pulled through the right door than pushed through the wrong door.

But, when there's a decision to be made, your prayer must be, Lord, shut this door. I can't hear from you, and I'm wondering around blind. Here's an open door - I must do something, and it seems right... close this if I'm not supposed to go through it, I beg you. I don't want to make decisions like this with this life you've given me responsibility for.
