Cults and Christ
I recently was debating the Resurrection with some unbelievers. I explained that the apostles' willingness to be persecuted and die for their witness was a strong testimony that they had seen the risen Lord. The skeptics replied that many people have died for cult leaders such as Jim Jones and David Koresh.
But cults like that tend to die with their leaders. Christianity did not. This is why Gamaliel cautioned the Sanhedrin and pointed out that other movements with sizable followings fizzled out once their leaders had died. So don't let anyone compare Christianity to a cult.
