Where Jesus Meets Us

I have been reading out of John today, and came to the story of "Doubting Thomas." Thomas was not around when Jesus first appeared to the other 10 disciples following the resurrection. Thomas says that he has to see the nail prints in order to believe. When Christ finally does appear, He does not insult Thomas' supposed "need" to see the nail prints, but shows them to him (John 21:27). It hit me that Jesus met him right where he was in his faith. The doubt was ok, and Jesus showed him the very thing that he claimed to need to see. The result was a declaration of faith.

I think God meets us in the same fashion. He comes to where we are in our spiritual journey. I love how Jesus in John 20 dealt with people in such a personal way. I believe He will handle us the same way.
