Perfect Aim
Every person has a list of some kind with goals. It could be financial goals, educational goals, career goals, physical goals, travel goals, personal goals. People create all kinds of goals. We are living in a goal driven society, there is nothing wrong with setting goals. For any other goal to be fruitful and meaningful in our lives we must have the goal of living our lives to please God. If we don't have this goal every other goal we may have is meaningless. This goal sets the tone for every other goal we set. (2 Corinthians 5:9). We must make it our aim to be well pleasing to God.
How does this look practically? Are we living the kind of lives that is well pleasing to the Lord? Well, we know that God is pleased with us because He sees us through the atonement that Jesus did for us. It is a done deal positionally because of what Jesus did, but we must live it practically every day.
To be a person that is well pleasing to God you must be:
1)A person that is committed. You are either in or out, there is no middle ground. Jesus said that if we are lukewarm He would vomit us out. Therefore, we must be committed to God's plan, we must be about His business. We must follow the example of John, he was fully committed to God's plan, he knew his place to be the forerunner to Jesus. If you don't know your place, you will live a life of frustration. You must be who God made you instead of someone else. We need to ask God to allow us to see who He made us to be. We must be so committed to the cause of Christ that we are willing to die for it.
2) Need to be obedient. It is impossible to please God without being obedient. Jesus said "if you love me, keep my commandments". We can say that we love God all day long, but do we obey Him. Do we obey Him when He tells us to forgive someone, do we obey when He tells us not to sin, do we obey Him when He asks us to do something that seems crazy. Are we willing to trust Him and obey Him. Obedience is paramount, we will not get in the "God zone" if we are not in obedience. We need to come to a place in our lives where we decide to obey God no matter what, even if it doesn't make any sense to us. The hardest time for us to obey is when things don't make any sense, however, these are the times when our faith gets tested and grows. There is nothing that God can't handle. The risk in life is found when we don't step out in faith. (Hebrews 11:6).
3) We need to be Spirit filled. To fulfill our calling in life we must be filled with the Holy Spirit. We need to be walking with the Holy Spirit if our lives are going to have an inpact for the kingdom. Any work that we try to do apart from the Holy Spirit in our lives will not have any effect in the supernatural. God is calling us to do the supernatural, therefore, we can't do it without being empowered by the Holy Spirit. We need to constantly ask God to be fill us with His Spirit. If we fill ourselves with the things of God, there is no room for the things of this world.
4) Be prepared. We must be prepared for the battles that will come. When we are living a life that is well pleasing to God, the devil will come after us, therefore, we need to be prepared. Always remember that when we are in a time of great victory that is when the devil plans his attacks, so we must keep our guard up. (Ephesians 6:10-16).
Remember that we have a God that loves us and has a plan for our lives. There is nothing in life like living a life that is well pleasing to Him. The question is; are we being faithful to use our lives like He wants us to?
In order to please Him we must first know Him. So make sure you do.
