Faith and being grounded.
Ever wonder why some plants produce good fruit and some wither away and die, without having produced any fruit at all? It all deals with a number of factors:
1. Is the land good that its planted on?
2. Is it nourished correctly in the right amounts of food and nutrients?
This is a good parable for our lives. We all need to be sure that we build our spiritual lives (houses) on ground that is good. What that means is we must treat ourselves as we treat our own physical house, keep it clean, keep it holy, keep it faithful. If we do this then WE will produce good things (i.e. kids, relationships etc). Mark 4 used a lot of parables and symbolism to explain this in such a way that a child could understand the meaning. Lastly, in this book jesus discusses the faith of the disciples, and how they MUST have faith even when it seems that situations are impossible to solve. Jesus, through the holy spirit is always with us, he dwells with-in our "house" (body), which is why we must maintain a clean, holy, faithful house. Remember, also that faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen (Heb 11:1). Today, please concentrate on your faith, and ask yourself how clean is my house?
