Knowing the Price of Discipleship
11 And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]. This is how this verse reads in the AMP Version, and it conveys the truth that these saints knew what the outcome of their witnessing would be, oh Jesus that is the callibre of faith that I desire, but it must come at a cost.
Again this truth is shown when we read in Rev Chapter 2
10 Fear nothing that you are about to suffer. [Dismiss your dread and your fears!] Behold, the devil is indeed about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested and proved and critically appraised, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be loyally faithful unto death [even if you must die for it], and I will give you the crown of life. AMP.
