Speak the truth for the alien
We are told from the beginning to act on behalf of the oppressed and to give accurate account of the grace extended to us. Some people have said that we are moving away from religion, but what are we moving toward? We want people to speak the truth and not lie to swing our opinion. We complain that the main reason we don’t trust politicians and preachers is that they are only telling us what they think we want to hear as they work toward a different goal. We want people to help us out with our burdens so that we can get more done and enjoy Saturdays with our families but we then turn around and don’t want to help others. We selfishly don’t want to step out of our little boxes while we watch people labor and struggle because we’re too busy. Those people aren’t the same as us so why should we care? They haven't bothered to learn English so why should I try and talk to them? Well with over 200 million users on Facebook we have come to a time and place where we need an understanding of other cultures since we have grown so connected we can email people in Canada, France, and Taiwan while sitting at Chick-fil-A.
The last time I was in Dallas I went in to the Target near where I grew up. As I walked around I saw people in burkas, saris, and heard multiple languages. I heard Arabic, Urdu, Spanish, Korean, and English. I have to remember that the Israelites left Egypt for the Promised Land, just as my grandmother left Mexico for a promised land, just like these people left for their own promised land. I need to remember that we all have our worlds that we have left behind in search of a better tomorrow, and that it is my job today to bring about God’s will on Earth as it is in Heaven. As a follower of Christ it is my calling to step out and engage these people as often as possible to share the grace that has been given to me. I will give an honest report, I will share the work, and I will strive to raise a generation that knows we are all children of God.
