Why do we work for Jesus? Because He is worthy! Just a random thought...
I have read this verse before and often skipped right past it, but today it struck me as very significant. Why do we serve God? Is it because we want something or because we He is worthy? I wonder sometimes if Christianity were different and we were not guaranteed the reward of Heaven, would we serve God anyway?
I think this is something we should all ask ourselves. Do we work for God for the reward or because we believe that He is worthy of our effort and praise? I submit to you that many of us have poor motives in respect to this. God is worthy of our praise regardless of what He gives us. He alone is worthy of our worship. He alone is worthy of praise.
So, What are your motives today? Are you serving God because you want something from Him or because you believe Him to be worthy.
Jesus preformed the miracles (feeding the five thousand, walking on the water, and many others) to prove that He is who He says He is. Jesus did not preform the miracles to entertain or "buy" followers, but some came because they wanted something from Jesus not because they wanted to worship God.
Why do you do the things you do? Because He is worthy or because you want something?
