Fork in the road

I'm actually pretty bummed that Paul and Barnabus couldn't agree. In my idealistic mind, I want everyone to work together, agree about everything and hold hands in a circle singing 'We Are the World.' Obviously, this seldom happens- especially that last part. Like Paul and Barnie we find ourselves at a crossroads at times- in disagreement with a brother or sister. I must remember that my main sanctifying agents are those that walk through life with me. And we do not always agree. That would mean one of us is a doormat or being dishonest or something. Truth is, if agreed about everything, then we'd have "agreement" but we've been called to so much more- UNITY. It's easy to nod your head and affirm those you agree with. But the bigger task is when we must be in unity when our opinions are on opposite sides. So yeah, kind of a downer that Paul and Barnabus went their separate ways. BUT, this passage actually gives me a lot of encouragement, too. They didn't dwell. There was work to be done. I hope hearts were made right- I assume as much, before they parted ways. They found newbies to go along with them and continued to do the work of an evangelist. I live in a city where there are loads of terrific churches. We don't all meet together in one spot like the church at Galatia or something. We may disagree about some minors but our goal is the same- to make much of Jesus.
