John 20:8 Simple Believing
John 20:8 - Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.
John could possibly be the first person on earth to believe that Jesus had resurrected from the dead. When he and Peter ran to the tomb, I bet a thousand thoughts were running through his mind. Did someone really steal their Lord Jesus' body? Or did something more terrible happen? After all, no one at that time understood that Jesus was going to be resurrected after 3 days in the tomb.
All it took was a single visit to the tomb to bring John from ignorance to Faith. What a refreshing contrast to Thomas and some of the other disciples who needed much more convincing before yielding their will to believe. I guess his simple believing heart must be one of the reasons why John is the disciple closest to God's heart.
I want to learn to be like John as well. Not only do i want to rediscover my First Love for Jesus, i want to find back my First Faith as well. A heart of Faith that will once again take God at His word simply because He Is and not because there were other signs to confirm His promptings. I want to learn to be so sure of God's voice and heart that I will not doubt but will confidently and simply believe what my Lord impresses on my heart through the Holy Spirit. Remove the complications, complexities and confusion and bring me back to Simple Believing again, Lord!
