I have an advocate
As a new creature in Christ, I have a new goal in life, to obey Him. I strive for excellence to be more like Jesus and less attached to sin. My goal is not to be a good person but to be more like my savior, the best person. In that pursuit you strive to obey Him in all ways, keeping His commands close to your heart and sin far from it. But, although I am free from the bondage of sin in Christ, I sometimes voluntarily put myself back in shackles.
The Good News is that I have the best defense attorney and advocate in the Universe, Jesus Christ. He not only pleads my case before the Father, His word counts because He is the only person that was truly righteous. He also paid the price for my sins, faced all the wrath of God that I deserved on my behalf (not to mention the whole world's behalf) and has all authority now. You can't beat that defense with a stick!
But will I take the best defense in the business, the price that was already paid-His perfect gift for me, or defend myself in eternity or plead my own case before God. I don't think that will go over too well. That's why I am so grateful to have the perfect defense and my sinless advocate, Jesus Christ, that paid the price that I so rightly deserve.
Thank you Jesus for paying that price for me! I deserved death and an eternity separated from you, but you gave your life for me. You laid down your perfect sinless life, for a wretched woman like me and you rose from the dead so I can have victory over the sins in my life. I can not thank you enough Jesus! I am so grateful that you plead my case and love me more than I ever could think and imagine. You are so good to me. Please help me to continue to strive towards you and your words, and away from sin. I love you and thank you again! In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
