A Perfect Teacher

There is so much encouragement in what John has to say about the Holy Spirit. He begins chapter 2 by saying I can be sure I know Christ by how I live my life in obedience to His commandments and ends the chapter telling me the one who teaches me is the Holy Spirit. God Himself is my teacher. God convicts me of what is wrong in my life and then gives me the power to submit to Him. In the natural I have a propensity to rebel against His commandments but because He made His home in me, He works in me the desire to please Him. Thanks to God for that. I have nothing to do with the work; however He does give me the responsibility of submitting to His will. He works in me the desire to please Him and from that desire I please Him when I believe what He said in His word.

God can’t fail. The fact that He is my teacher is so assuring. Unlike some of the other teachers I had in my life, He is going to make sure I get an “A+.” Never is He too busy to give me the attention I need. Never is He satisfied that I have obtained merely 80% mastery but He works with me until I pass with 100% mastery. I do have to ask for His help though. I have to know what I am struggling with and ask Him to work with me in that area before any improvement will take place. As a teacher I am thrilled when a student comes to me asking for clarification in a matter. That tells me they are paying attention and have a desire to learn. I was delighted to give them my time. However when a student expected me to do the learning for them it not only frustrated me but them as well. I must be an active student in the walk of faith.

Daddy, thank you so much for the attention you have given me. You are extremely patient and I trust in your ability. I am grateful to be enrolled in your class. This is a class you personally extended a invitation for. Help me to be more grateful so that others will desire to be in it to. Help me to be more studious so I may be more pleasing to you. I love you daddy and desire to give you feelings of excitement and delight. For you I live my life. Amen!
