Carpe Diem (Seize The Day)

The Message: Carpe Diem (Seize The Day)

Luke 9:62 Jesus said, "No procrastination. No backward looks. You can't put God's kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day."

Every day our lives are filled with possibilities and opportunities to advance the Kingdom of our God. As Christians, we are called to reach out to the world around us and shine God's light. To do this effectively we must be determined to stay focused on God and not the world. Every wonder why some stay in church and others don't? Why can't every Christian seize the day? What does Carpe Diem mean?

The word seize means to take control of, take possession of, apprehend, take into custody, and capture. This means that we have to on purpose set our minds on things above where Jesus is seated (Colossians 3:1) and not allow the enemy to have any place in us. We have been given power and authority over the enemy (Luke 10:17-20), but it is up to us to use it effectively.

So how do you we seize the day? Well, start by submitting, ourselves fully to God. The Bible says that if we submit ourselves to God and resist the enemy, he (satan) will flee (James 4:7). The Bible tells us Jesus our Lord told them to wait for the Comforter the He will pray to the Father for and will come after He is with the Father. In the Book of Acts you read that they waited for the Holy Spirit to fall on them and fill them. Yes, they spoke in tongues and prayed in tongues and to the church 3,000 was added in that one day.

The problem arises when we become complacent and think that we have the ability on our own to resist the enemy. By this I mean, you simple tell God that His Holy Spirit and His Bible are not good enough or you try to order from Him like you are at Mc Donalds. You choose to be a Christian but all the other stuff you don't want. The Bible says our body is a temple to the Holy Spirit, and we must keep it clean. This no sin of any kind. I will say it again..No.. Sin..of..any..kind! We must be on guard against putting our spiritual lives into neutral and stay strong in the Lord and the power of His might.

Seizing the day isn't something that happens automatically. It comes as we consciously give ourselves fully to God's plans and purposes for us by being filled with the Holy Spirit. Seizing the day is deciding every day that you will look for ways to expand God's Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Seizing the day means holding fast to your confession of faith and honoring the commitments you have made to God. Seizing your day means that you won't allow satan's weapons of doubt, fear, discouragement and unbelief to penetrate your mind and rob you of the peace and joy God has for you.

The love of God has been shed in hearts so that we can have life to the full until it overflows. As you seize the days of your life and determine to live them for God alone, the overflow of the Holy Spirit in your life will bring peace and joy to others. So take this day and surrender it fully to God. Allow His Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct your path. Capture the opportunities that you have with others to be a witness of God's Holiness in your life and seize this and everyday for the Kingdom of God. Through you many will be saved!

Pray this prayer with me,

Lord God help me to seize this day and everyday by bring it into alignment for Your purposes. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in and through my life today and everyday. All that I am, I give to you to accomplish Your plans in me. Lord fill me with your Holy Spirit as you promised. You lead and I will follow! Thank you Jesus! I recieve your Holy Spirit!

In Jesus Name, Amen!
