He Had Possessions ... or They Had Him?

I think the issue here is not that the man had many possessions ... but that "they had him" ... he was unwilling to part with them.

This was his idol, his stronghold. We would do anything, but he couldn't let go of of the tight grip he had on money and possessions.

I'm certain that Christ is not condemning us for having "many possessions" ... He's condemning us when we can't let go of them ... or anything else, for that matter.
