destroy and be bold!
24 Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned. I violated the LORD's command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them. 1 Samuel 15:24 TNIV
It’s so easy to try and please men over what God would have us to do in our life. Saul must have had so much pressure from strong men fighting and sacrificing their lives for their nation at war then asking for things that he knew they should have or keep. I mean after all didn’t they deserve something for fighting with in the battle with Saul? And their intensions where to get what they kept from war and sacrifice it to God anyway? Either way God had made it clear for them to destroy everything and not keep anything.
This scripture is a reminder for me of two things. First, God knows that the ungodly things I keep in my life will hurt me eventually. I must not keep things in my around or in my life that have the potential to move my heart away from God. Second, as a church leader I cannot be afraid to just tell the truth about what God wants our church to hear. I must resist the temptation water anything down and just let God’s Word change our lives.
God, thank you again for this reminder today. May you give me the strength to remove hurtful things in my life and my Holy Spirit empower me to boldly speak Your truth!
