Truth About Jesus
1 John 4:3
John says to test everyone who claims to speak by the spirit. The litmus test he explains to use is one that determines one of two possibilities. Either the person is with God or they aren’t. It’s not complicated at all. The one element he tells us to check is what they say about Jesus. We can know whether or not they are with God or against Him by testing whether what they say about Jesus is true or not. What I get from this bit of scripture is that my perspective of Jesus rides on everything. The way that I see the Lord, Jesus Christ, determines whether I am for Him or against Him.
I received a call last week from an old friend. We hadn’t spoken about much in nearly two years. I don’t remember how we got on the subject of religion but he began profess his beliefs about God and his inability to trust in the authority of scripture. I was perplexed by his accusation insisting that Jesus was a copycat story and was promoted by power hungry people in a successful attempt to brainwash us so they can continue in their sinful acts driven by greed. He actually believed that sinful evil men were capable of creating a religious following in a man named Jesus who lived and taught we must deny our sinful natures, repent of our sins, and follow Him to the grave so that we may have life. When I think of what Jesus taught man to do, I can’t help but to realize how ridiculous it must sound to those who never met Him. How can evil men conjure up such a thing? To die in order to be righteous, there isn’t a man in their right mind that would believe without the power of God working it in their hearts to believe. Jesus revealed himself to me and that’s how I know what I believe is true. My perspective of Him was formed by Him.
Daddy, thank you for being awesome. Thank you for being so different than me that I couldn’t possibly have made up your story. You are just as the Serephs said, Holy, Holy, Holy. You are all wise, all powerful, and all knowing being everywhere at the same time. There is nobody capable of describing you without you first revealing yourself to them. Lord, I pray for those who have not seen you. I pray they would stop spreading lies about your image confusing those gullible sheep in need of your love. May your peace grace us all that we may all enter into the harmonic fellowship taking place within yourself. Amen!
