Is it even worth it?
Meditation Song: I Almost Let Go- Kurt Carr
Scripture Reference: Philippians 3:13-14 KJV- 13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended : but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Before I begin I want to say to you all, I thank God for you. I thank you for following this ministry. It has been a blessing to hear your testimonies about what God is saying through what I write. I’m telling you it is ALL HIM! You all send me countless emails, text messages, phone calls, FB messages every week. Thank you for letting me know that this word is not falling on death ears. Please comment in the discussions section so that others will know your testimony as well. If it’s private, please feel free to hit me up, if it’s not, please post comments so that others can relate. Sometimes it’s just good to know someone else has or is going through the same things. So please comment. Even go back if an old one blessed you.
Is it even worth it? Have you asked that question of yourself sometimes? Like when you’re in a relationship that you’ve committed to but you all keep seeming to have problems; you ever think that? Or when you’re in class and you don’t even know if you want this degree anymore, don’t you think that? Well I’ve asked this question a few times throughout my life about my life and even my ministry. Is what I’m going through even worth it? Is my ministry even going to be that great? Because all of this mess I’m going through does not seem to be making me stronger; it’s wearing me out!
I’ve said to God on countless occasions (sometimes jokingly others not so much), “God whatever level of anointing I’ve paid for, just give me that! ‘Cause all this stuff I’m going through just doesn’t seem like it’s worth it!” Just like this week’s meditation song says, “I almost let go. I almost gave up. My problems had me bound and depression weighed me down,” this was me at so many points in my life. I just didn’t want to do it anymore.
I’m telling you the last 7 years of my life has been such a struggle! I’ve lost cars, money, jobs, apartments, clothes, family and friends. I’ve been robbed, held at gun point, lied on, cheated on; I mean you name it; I’ve been through it or been really close. And I’ve many times thrown up my hands and said, “Is it even worth it?” Even in 2010 I’ve said those very same words.
Some of you all see the ministry, the songs I write, the conferences I teach or the workshops I do and you think that all is well but sometimes it’s a struggle to even sit down and want to write through my own pain; my own sufferings. I’ve doubted God. I’ve wondered if he was even real while I was preaching a sermon about how good he is! And I counsel countless pastors who have done the very same thing. This is why it is absolutely crucial and imperative that you pray for your leaders!
Sometimes no matter how much faith you have; no matter how deep and anointed you are, you sometimes ask the question; “Is it even worth it? Is all the hell that I’m going through worth this? Am I really going to get the blessing on the other side or am I just sitting here foolishly waiting on a God who won’t move on my behalf?! The drug dealers are driving BMW 7 series’ now; the whores are finding the husbands; the liars are getting the job; the cheaters are owning the businesses—God when’s my turn!? IS IT EVEN WORTH IT!?!”
Verse 13 says in clause b, “forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before…” Sometimes you’ve got to forget the things behind you and keep moving forward. You’ve got to forget the car you just saw with the drug dealers in it;you’ve got to forget the wedding you attended last week of the “loose girl” from the neighborhood (and did she have the nerve to wear a WHITE dress?!?! Daughter who you fooling!? You got 3 baby daddies! I’m a mess, I know LOL) and you’ve got to do what verse 14 says, “…press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Look at your neighbor and say PRESS!
You’ve got to get a press in your spirit! In the ‘hood we say you’ve got to get on your grind! No more sitting around wondering if everything you’re going through is worth it. Of course it’s worth it! If it wasn’t you’d been dead a long time ago! This mess ain’t for you! It’s for your power; it’s for your anointing; it’s for your breakthrough! If God didn’t have a purpose and a plan for you, he would have put out a hit on you a long time ago! If you’re here, be clear; your time is near! Your time for change, SHIFT (that word makes me shout!), rearrangement and turning around is upon you!
If your situation isn’t turning around then maybe it’s time YOU turn around—and press!
P-Prepare
R- re-up
E-Excel
S-Stand
S-Shift
Prepare your self for what you want! You want that job? Redo that resume`. You want that car? Save for the down payment. You want a closer relationship with God? Get in his house, his word and his way!
Re-up. See, what you know about Mario brothers? I’m talking old school Nintendo, 8 bit game console! LOL! See you got on a certain level and couldn’t die on this one ‘cause you only had one life left! You was on that level where you had to jump on them tall mushrooms! Come on somebody! The level with the marching mushrooms that made you little Mario when you first touched them and dead when you touched them the second time. (I’m ‘bout to preach!) But if you jumped in the right place, a mushroom was hidden behind the clouds and you could RE-UP! Another life was waiting for you when you got the mushroom. Another life is waiting for you and all you’ve got to do is RE-UP, Recharge and get in the game! (PRAISE BREAK)
Excel. You know you can do better than what you’ve been doing right? It’s time to excel. Challenge yourself to work a little harder, plan a little better and move a little faster. The enemy wants to hold you back, make him out of a liar and excel!
Stand. You’ve got to learn how to stand on his word! You’ve got to know how to stand on “My God shall supply all your need,” Phil. 4:19. You’ve got to stand on, “I can do all things,” Phil 4: 13. You’ve got to stand on, “the race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong but to the one that endures til the end,” Eccl. 9:11. You’ve got to learn to stand on the promises and word of the Lord!
Shift. See I like this one. It’s time to shift out of that old thinking, those old ways and that mess that you’ve been sitting in. I don’t care if it’s your mama’s house that’s your mess. I don’t care if it’s your boyfriend that’s the mess. Heck it can be your church (Ooops! Did I say that? Did. Did indeed!)! It’s time to shift! Shift out of where you are into your new level!
PRESS TOWARDS THE MARK (set that mark high so that as you press you can appreciate when you hit the mark) !!!!!!!
Is it even worth it? Answer that question when you get to the end. Right now you ain’t got time for that foolishness—you’ve gotta press!
On your MARK…..get ready……get set……GO!
